Modern Art from the collection of the Ekaterina Cultural Foundation 1996 - 2006
May 17 - 21, 2006
From the 17th to the 21st of May 2006 the 10th International Art Fair "Art Moscow" was taking place at the Central House of Artists in Krymsky Val.
This time, within the framework of the event, the exhibition "Modern Art from the collection of the Ekaterina Cultural Foundation 1996 - 2006" was presented as a special non-commercial project dedicated to the Jubilee of the Art Fair.
This collection of modern art was started by the Ekaterina Cultural Foundation ten years ago. Of great importance for its development was the rise of the "Art Moscow" Fair which has provided the leading demonstration premises for modern art and influenced the tastes and preferences of people interested in purchasing it. In this context we would like to extend our gratitude to all Galleries which have been supporting us all these years and whose help has been invaluable in extending the collection by adding to it new works of Russian contemporary art.
The Exhibition encompassed a wide range of different trends and styles reflecting the reality of artistic life in 1996 - 2006. This included the classics of Modern Art - the works of Semen Faibisovich, Boris Orlov, Igor Makarevich and Elena Elagina as well as less well-known works by members of the ARTART Gallery Exhibitions – Nikita Alexeev, Konstantin Zvezdochetov, Sergey Mironenko, Yury Albert, Andrew Fillipov. The other part of the exposition presented the works of Valery Koshlyakov, Oleg Kulik, Alexander Vinogradov and Vladimir Dubosarsky, Rauf Mamedov's monumental cycles and Sergey Bratkov's photography. Besides the exhibition included some 'objects' from the collection of the Foundation – Makarevich and Elagina’s "Mushroom #1", Boris Orlov's sculpture, Sergey Shekhovtsov's porolon monuments.
A catalogue of the collection was available from the Foundation stand at the Opening of the Exhibition.
